Last month, RSK Biocensus were proud to sponsor the inaugural Ecology Expo, held at NAEC Stoneleigh in Warwickshire. The first event of its kind, this two-day exhibition provided a fantastic experience for all attendees, bringing together industry leaders, innovators and practitioners from within the ecology sector.

Over the two days, our RSK Biocensus teams were represented by Tim Clark, Tim Graham, Andrew Oliver, Erika Dahlberg, Alexandra Ellis and Chloe Balmer. Every member of the team spent time during the event promoting our services and values to attendees, talking about what we do and how we can make a difference.

Our team also made time to experience the event for themselves, discovering new products and networking with some of the 40+ exhibitors at the event, finding out what new technology and tools can do to benefit ecologists in the field.

Also on offer were live demonstrations of ecology equipment and services, as well as a wide range of seminars led by experts in the sector. Some of the fascinating talks that our team attended included Daniel Hargreaves from Vincent Wildlife Trust, discussing how technology helps us to monitor rare mammals, and Stuart Newson from the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO), who talked about Bioacoustics, and how to scale these up towards sustainable biodiversity monitoring across Europe and North America.

The event as a whole was a successful demonstration of the impact that technology can have on the ecology sector. A key example of the innovation on display came from Callum Throw of Arb Innovators, who presented at the expo, discussing how 3D and VR technologies can transform Arboriculture and Ecology, and how these can be used at a low cost to enhance both surveying and reporting.

Returning from the event, the whole team agreed that the event was a huge success, with brilliant insights and exciting looks into the future of ecology. Huge thanks to Richard Crompton for organising the event, we had a blast!
