Who are the environmental profession’s most impactful individuals?

Founded in 1978, the ENDS Report is a magazine published in the United Kingdom, covering environmental policy and business, news, official reports, UK and EU policy and legislation and how environmental issues affect corporate strategy.

The ENDS Report Power List names the 100 UK environmental professionals who have made the greatest impact in the past two years – as nominated by their colleagues, clients and competitors. These are split between academics, influencers, campaigners, consultants, private and public sector workers, lawyers and unsung heroes.

Congratulations to our own Paola Reason on being listed as one of the 11 most influential environmental consultants on the ENDS Power List 2024.

The ENDS Power List states: “Paola Reason is a specialist bat ecologist and a director at RSK Biocensus, which provides consultancy and contracting services in the ecological sector. Her work as lead author on the recently published (2023) UK Bat Mitigation Guidelines prompted her inclusion in this year’s Power List with a nominator pointing to her outstanding knowledge and work with bats.

Paola has extensive technical expertise of bats and their development, specialising in Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs) and rarer species, survey design, impact assessment and mitigation. She has a particular interest in noise and how bats might be affected by it and has worked on many large-scale projects including HS2, and (previously) Sizewell C nuclear new build.

She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) and a member of various advisory groups, including Natural England’s Bat Expert Panel, the Bat Survey Guidelines Technical Review Board, the Norwich Western Link independent Bat Advisory Group and the European Infrastructure and Ecology Network Europe (IENE)’s Scientific and Expert Committee in 2022. She was named joint winner of CIEEM’s Member of the Year award in 2021.”
