RSK Biocensus is strengthening its ecological service offering across Scotland following an announcement that ecologists from Caledonian Conservation are joining the team.
The experienced and skilled team of 12, based in Stirling and led by Chris Cathrine, will join RSK Biocensus as part of RSK Group, offering new services to RSK clients. This supports RSK’s strategic growth in Scotland, with the team moving into the existing RSK Biocensus business (bolstering it to 190) and Chris taking a role as technical director.
Caledonian Conservation provides services for development and conservation projects, with particular experience in onshore wind, railway works, mineral extraction, forestry and conservation research. This includes services for all stages of development, such as ecological feasibility studies; ecology and ornithology baseline surveys, including botanical and invertebrate surveys; scoping; collision risk modelling; ecological impact assessment (EcIA); habitat management and monitoring plans (HMMP); discharge of planning conditions; Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW); and post-consent monitoring.
RSK Biocensus Managing Director Tom Smith said: “Our new colleagues will add valuable skills and experience to the Biocensus team, helping us to expand our ecological service offering across the UK and supporting our strategic growth in Scotland. I look forward to working with the team and welcoming it into RSK Biocensus.”
Chris said: “I am really excited for the Caledonian Conservation team to join RSK Biocensus. This will provide new opportunities to work on different projects with a wider team of skilled and experienced ecologists throughout the UK, while continuing to deliver the same expert services we have become known for, benefiting existing clients through greater in-house capacity.”
